In 2005, the Judicial Council of Georgia adopted the continuing education requirement that every court reporter newly licensed in Georgia take the Learning Essentials About Professionalism (LEAP) seminar. The goal of the LEAP is to afford each newly certified court reporter with accessibility to the Board of Court Reporting, Court Reporters Training Council, and experienced professionals equipped to teach practical skills, professional conduct, and ethical values to practice court reporting in a highly competent manner. Generally, topics include Board’s Rules and Regulations, continuing education guidelines, emerging trends and technology, and transcript deliverables, just to name a few. Attendees will gain the first-hand knowledge and skills required of a certified court reporter.

Who is required to attend the LEAP seminar?

Every newly certified Georgia court reporter shall complete the first LEAP seminar, authorized by the Board of Court Reporting, after their certification.

Who may attend LEAP seminar?

Any certified Georgia court reporter seeking continuing education (CE) hours per calendar year to maintain a valid certificate to practice as a reporter in Georgia.  Note: The certified court reporter must not have previously attended and earned CE hours for LEAP.
